a great tool to own! [Posted on 2008-09-09] it's a great tool and handy too. looks really nice and the finishing is quite good though the pack it came was labelled made in China; which i thought was an all american made...anyways that doesnt tarnish the brand name. the only difficulty i had is to change the blade. still i havent been able to do that. so if anyone out there knows how to do then let me know. my email add is anil_doc@hotmail.com
Leatherman is the standard [Posted on 2008-09-15] This is my first Leatherman tool, I had always bought the cheaper brands before hand, thinking a multi-tool is a multi-tool, but this Leatherman has changed my mind. It is definately the multi-tool to which all others should be compared to. Everything is easily accessed, and is made to last a lifetime, I can even buy add ons such as extra bits for the screwdriver. I definately recommend Leatherman multi-tools, you can't go wrong.
Just right for Papa Bear! [Posted on 2008-10-02] I read these reviews after ordering this as a pro deal from the manufacturer. I was a little scared after I read some of them.
Now that it arrived and I have had it in my hand all my worries are gone.
It fits my hands just right. It feels like a solid and bomber tool. I love the easy blade access.
Now, in the case it seems about cell phone sized. So, on a belt it does feel big. I don't really mind though. The case would get a 4 or so and the gadget would get a 5 so really this should be a 4 and a half.
Now, as you read that this is just right for my hand, bear in mind that I am 6'2" and 250 lbs. This may feel big to average people. To me though, just right.
excellent tool [Posted on 2008-10-30] for every work is a 100% recomendable for any people. (para todo tipo de trabajo y 100 por ciento recomendable para toda persona)
best thing since the wheel [Posted on 2008-11-05] had a gerber diesel before this. the gerber had a beefier saw and file BUT, on the surge they are quickly replaceable. it has a really nice leather case that also holds penlight, pencil type sharpener, etc. it can be worn vertically or horizontally for more comfort. in general it is a little bigger than other multitools but much stronger. within the first four days i had it it saved me twice. once to replace a blown spark plug while on way to do a dj show. the second to pry/bend the fender out after wife was in accident - allowing the door to open normally. it really does replace your normal emergency tool bag. the 1 and only problem with it is the very weak and hard to use lanyard ring but if you dont use them anyway its not a big deal. i highly reccommend this for everyone.
i thought the changeable blades looked familiar. when i went to change the blade in the jigsaw i noticed that it had the same quickchange "t" shank as the surge blades so i tried it. fits perfect. there are all kinds of these available at pretty much every tool store so you dont even have to wait for your order to come in, just run down to sears.
